Writing with Light

Black & White

We’re On A Roll!

One of my most favourite cities in the world is New York and I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to visit often. I was there at the beginning of July for a long weekend and the reason for this latest trip was more then just a weekend getaway but it was also to do a bit more shooting underground in the subway. There was a very special reason for this which I will reveal over the next few weeks so stay tuned.

I did manage to stay above ground as well and spent a day in Brooklyn shooting on a very hot, humid and rainy day.

End of the Line

Here’s another image from my Subway Tableau©️ series.

Sometimes, no matter how hard you look it’s not always easy to see the end of the line.

The Oculus

This is fast becoming a favourite destination when in New York. Now I just have to decide whether its because I love photographing this spectacular structure  or whether its because I can go shopping at Century 21 afterwards 🙂

After some initial tweaking in Lightroom I used Nik Silver Efex Pro for the black and white conversion and then Topaz Simplify to make the crowd a bit more “faceless.”

Museum of the City of New York

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Guggenheim, The Natural History Museum. Museums in New York. Even if you haven’t visited them you’ve certainly heard of them. I have and over the years I’ve visited them. The Museum of the City of New York….not only had I never been to this museum, I didn’t know it existed.

A couple of weeks prior to my last trip to NYC I was scrolling through my Instagram feed and I noticed a post from @sarahjessicaparker, there was a new exhibit at the Museum of the City of NY, A City Seen by Todd Webb. How did I never know about this???

The museum did not disappoint. If you’re in NYC head on over there.
