Great Light, Easy Light – A New eBook from Craft & Vision
As some of you may know I don’t shoot portraits, at least not the traditional studio portraits that is the focus of Craft & Vision’s latest ebook release, Great Light, Easy Light – Strobe Techniques That Don’t Look Lit by Kevin Clark. Nonetheless the book was about lighting your subject and as a photographer that was something I wanted to find out more about.
I don’t think that I’m opening a studio in the near future but regardless I did find this ebook of great interest. Let me explain. I believe that as a photographer, regardless of your area of interest, it’s important to understand the different elements in creating a powerful or dramatic image. Light is the key essential ingredient in making a photograph. Whether your shooting landscapes, still life’s or portraits, the image won’t work if the light isn’t right.
In Great Light Easy Light, Kevin Clark takes the reader through 10 different case studies (all filled with outstanding images) to show you how different lighting set ups affect the final image. What really blew me away is that all his set-ups make the subject look like they are naturally lit. The light is soft when it has to be or dramatic for greater impact. The author discusses how to mix flash and ambient light to create a natural look and offers insight into one, two and three light set-ups complete with diagrams and photographs of those set-ups.
