Watching the Crowd Pass By
This image was taken whilst walking around the old city of Prague.
It was a very sunny day and I wanted to make sure that I exposed properly for both the crowd who were in direct sunlight and the architecture under the arches. I took a series of 5 brackets and then processed them in Lightroom using the Photomerge HDR function. I was quite pleased with the result. I then converted the image to black & white using Topaz Black & White Effects.

A First look at Prague
“Prague never lets you go… this dear little mother has sharp claws.” -Franz Kafka
You’re probably wondering why I would post this image from Prague before posting a more iconic view of the old city, the clock tower or the Charles Bridge, Well that’s a good question.
I spent 2 days in Prague, which is by no means is enough time to take in all that this incredible city has to offer. The architecture, Romanesque; Baroque; Renaissance; Gothic, Art Nouveau; Modernist (just to name a few styles) is absolutely incredible to behold. Don’t worry I do have some of those iconic shots and they’re coming but there are always little gems hiding in plain sight that we sometimes miss.
Walking through the old city even small pedestrian walkways such as the one below holds so much architectural interest its hard not to spend time and just take it all in.

Bellagio Street
Bellagio’s town centre is made up of narrow streets running up and down on cobblestone steps. Each street is filled with boutiques, restaurants and cafe’s and all roads lead to the lake.

Prospect Park
Prospect Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux after they completed Central Park in Manhattan. It’s a glorious park to spend time in and I have to get back there in the summer when the trees are full of leaves. It was a beautiful day when I was there and the sun was shining but I thought this image was better suited to a black and white treatment which added a bit more of a mysterious feel to it.

Follow the Path
I’ve been sitting on this image since the summer. This was taken Amalfi, Italy as I was walking around, exploring the town. I came across this walkway which led to a small hotel and was enthralled by the curving pathway and the arches. I shot 3 exposures which I tonemapped in Photomatix. I then tried processing it different ways but I just wasn’t happy with the final outcome.
Last week I heard that OnOne Perfect Photo Suite was on sale. I had been meaning to try this software for sometime but just never seemed to have the time. This weekend I downloaded the trial version and I was blown away by it. Once I finished my editing in Photo Suite I brought the image back into Photoshop and used Topaz Star Effects to give the lights just a touch of pop.
