After the Rain

When we arrived at Parc Guell (after a gruelling uphill climb) it was cloudy and raining. Parc Guell is beautiful but it absolutely radiates in the sunshine. Luckily a half hour after arriving the clouds dispersed and the sun came out.

It had already stopped racing but people still had their umbrellas out. This image with its bright skies, people holding umbrellas and the partial view of the park with the sea beyond, I felt was a good candidate for a digital painting. After processing this in Lightroom I used Topaz Detail and Topaz Impression to create the final image.

Women of the Wall

The women’s section of the Western Wall always seems so much more crowded than the mens but that’s because that section of the wall is much smaller. The mosaic of women, from every religious affiliation, jostling (respectfully) for a spot at the wall is a testament to the solemnity and reverence that this site commends.

I used Topaz Impression to create the final image and give it a softer look. Don’t forget you can use the discount code ELPHOTO for a 15% discount on any Topaz Labs product.

Along the Limmat River

The Limmat river runs through the city of Zurich and commences right to Lake Zurich. Okay…had to let you know the details but the beauty of it is just walking along the river on a beautiful, sunny, pre-spring day.

Follow the Light

I was in Prague at the end of September of this year and I thought that it would be a great time to go as the city is usually packed with tourists in the summer. Well it wasn’t as quiet as I had hoped. The city (especially the old city) was teeming with people.

I mean really, who can blame them, Prague is an incredible city  and once you get past the beauty of it you can then dive into its history but I’ll leave that for another post.

My husband and I walked across the Charles Bridge and found a small restaurant where we stopped to have lunch. While he was paying the bill I did what I do best, explore with camera in hand. I came across this small street and to my amazement it wasn’t packed with people.

This was such a great scene, the light, the shadows, the beautiful building at the end of the street. I knew then that this would be a good image to do a little digital painting with.

I processed this in Lightroom then brought it into Photoshop and used Topaz Impression to create the final image. Don’t forget you can get 15% off any Topaz Labs product with the code ELPHOTO.

Vienna Flower Shop

As I was processing some of my images from Vienna this struck me as the perfect shot to do some digital painting. The flowers were so vibrant and really popped of the screen that I tried a few different versions before finding the one I really liked.

I used Topaz Impression to create this image, it’s one of my favourite Topaz plug-ins. Starting with the base image I sampled different pre-sets before settling on the one that closely matched my vision and then I started adjusting the brush strokes, amount of paint, blending mode, etc.

Carpets for Sale!

HAPPY CANADA DAY & HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! I hope everyone is enjoying this long weekend and that it’s filled with family, friends, BBQs & lots of fun.

The image below is of a different type of gathering. The streets of Old Jaffa in Tel Aviv are filled with tourists and locals alike. If you’re looking for souvenirs, a suit of amor, a life-size rabbit and of course carpets then you’re in the right place.

I processed this image using my usual workflow of LR & Photoshop then used Topaz Impression and Topaz Texture of its final treatment.

Topaz Impression 2 has just been released by Topaz Labs and I have to say that this plug in and Topaz Texture are 2 of my favourites.
