A Hard Drive Crash, A Day in the Country & An Aspiring Photographer
First I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day, President’s Day and Family Day (if you’re in certain parts of Canada). You may have noticed that I’ve been a bit absent this week. I have a good explanation…my hard-drive crashed 😦
No need to panic though because everything is backed-up on a raid drive and then I have a 3rd back up of all my images. The problem is I’ve been without my Mac for almost a week. See the Mac’s internal hard-drive is less than 3 years old. I had replaced it back then because I needed a larger one. Well it was still under warranty (that’s good) but it will take 7 – 10 days to send it back to the manufacturer and get it back (that’s bad). It should be coming home this week.
My son, Sam is home this week from University for reading week and it’s really nice to have a full house. Since today was family day we took a drive up to Port Carling, Muskoka. Sam has started showing some interest in photography so we did some shooting together today. Unfortunately I can’t process my images until I get my computer back but here’s a shot I took of Sam with my iPhone 6 and processed with Snapseed.
iPhone Friday – Street Art at Gordon Beach – Tel Aviv
It’s been awhile since I’ve dedicated a Friday to iPhoneography and I thought it was time. I found myself leaving my big DSLR behind on most days this trip. On the days that I gave myself a break from lugging around the monster my iPhone was getting a workout.
These images were taken at Gordon beach in Tel Aviv. Along a section of the promenade wall an artist created the most amazing beach scenes that made people stop in their tracks.
Click on the images to enlarge (they really do look better).
The Carmel Market
You may be wandering where I’ve disappeared too this time? I’m back in Israel and will be here for the next couple of weeks. If you’d like to follow along on the adventure you can do so by following me on Instagram or on Facebook. I’ll be posting there frequently.
Here’s a quick iPhone shot from today at the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv.
All edits done in Snapseed.
iPhone Friday – Boston Edition
Sorry for my absence this week. I was in New York last week for a little R&R and a family function. Didn’t do as much shooting as I’d hoped but I do have a few shots to share with you next week. Today I wanted to share some shots taken with my iPhone 6 while out and about in Boston a couple of weeks ago. All shots were processed using Snapseed. The 3rd image, “Inside Fenway” was also processed with PhotoToaster.
iPhone Friday – Imaging USA
I got back a couple of days ago from Nashville where I attended Imaging USA 2015. I can’t say enough about the experience. It was 4 days filled with educational seminars and photographic inspiration.
I was fortunate to reconnect with some old friends and make new ones. I finally got to meet photographers who I had only interacted with online and that was a thrill. I didn’t do any shooting because the days were filled with seminars dealing with the business of photography; processing workflow; lighting techniques and inspirational lectures. Armed with my new iPhone 6, I did take a couple of hours on my first evening and headed downtown to see a little bit of the city as this was my first time in Nashville.
iPhone Phun – TIFF
Yes it’s Saturday so I couldn’t very well call this iPhone Friday so consider this a special edition. This past Thursday was opening night of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). TIFF was founded in 1976 but has grown to be the most influential film festival.
Every September Toronto is host to world renowned celebrities and movie makers. This year the city has closed down King Street, home of the TIFF Bell Lightbox building and where many of the venues are located, and has turned into a pedestrian walkway. I work about a five minute walk from the epicentre of activities and yesterday at lunch time, armed with my iPhone, a friend and I ventured out to explore.
I’m heading back out this evening but wanted to share with you a few of my shots.
