Weekly Photo Challenge – Abandoned
My contribution to this week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge are some images that I took on my trip to Italy back in the summer of 2011. I originally process these as HDR when I first got back and was not at all happy with the way they turned out so I never posted them. Since that time I’ve started to use Lightroom and when I saw this weeks challenge I went back to my archives and decided to process just one exposure of each image solely in LR5. I was quite pleased with the end result. Let me know what you think.
Oh…we were driving from Florence to Amalfi on this day and stopped just south of Florence and came across this abandon farmhouse. What character this place has. It would make a great fixer upper 🙂

Welcome to my New Home on The World Wide Web!
I know what you’re going to say…”you just launched you’re blog and you’re changing your site and the design already?” You’re right but I have a good reason for doing so…actually there are a few. First of all what was really frustrating is that I couldn’t respond to any of your comments. I loooove getting your comments (…hint) and I really wanted to respond but I couldn’t. Â The other thing that I really like about WordPress is that you…yes you…the reader can actually subscribe to my blog. Yup right there on the right hand side. Just put in your email address and every week when I add new photos and entries you’ll get a notification email…cool (oops sorry it’s not cool to say cool anymore)…SWEET!
Something else…my own domain.  www.edithlevyphotography.com  I don’t know if you noticed but the last site had a really long domain url that even if you tried you probably couldn’t remember. This should be much easier.  Just in case you want to tell your friends about it or forward the link…anyway you get it.
One last thing…this is a biggie…the photos themselves. You can now hover over the photo, click and you’ll see a larger version. You couldn’t do that before and I think that given that this is a photography blog, after all, the photos are somewhat important. So there you have it.
I really hope you enjoy this blog as much as I enjoy writing it. Â In the future I’ll be adding links to the Blogroll (over on the right hand side again) which I think you’ll like. All photography related of course. I also have a few other things up my sleeve but you’ll have to wait and see.

Quit Horsin’ Around – Entry #5

Faced with another cloudy, grey, dreary and at times wet weekend (do I sound bitter?) I was trying to figure out what to shoot. This weather wasn’t inspiring me much. Hmmm…Is that just an excuse? Ok maybe a drive in the country was called for and hopefully the rain would hold out. I kept a lookout for red-roofed barns with interesting windows. Nope. Nothing. Nada. Maybe I was on the wrong road. Then I saw him. My new friend, Honolulu Gold. He was very busy trying to eat the fence and was curious as I approached closer but not curious enough to stop what he was doing.
He had a beautiful face and I wanted to get in tight to see all the detail. (I’m such a big shot when there is a fence between me and a 1000 Pound animal, although truth be told to get the shot above I did have to stick my head through the fence) I fired off a few shots then he got bored with both the fence and me and turned to walk away. I waited a few minutes and realized he’d had enough of my picture-taking and wasn’t going to turn around anytime soon. On to the next opportunity.
After driving for another 1/2 hour or so we came upon another property. No formal introductions were made this time. I decided to use my wide-angle lens in order to get not only my main subjects but include the property as well.
