Ronda, Spain – Puente Nuevo
The Puente Nuevo is the “newest” bridge in Ronda which was built in 1793. The bridge took 40 years to complete, is approximately 325 feet and cost the lives of 50 builders. The bridge bisects the new and old towns of Ronda and both the bridge and the views are spectacular.
Ronda is located between Malaga and Seville and is an easy day trip from either city. To be honest I do regret not spending the night as thee was so much to see and do.
Snow Day in Central Park
It’s February…is it too late to say Happy New Year. I guess it’s never too late for that. Well it’s been a busy start to the year with work and family and a new puppy. I made myself a promise (not a resolution) that would find more time for shooting and posting and I’m already lagging behind in that promise.
I was invited last year by a photography Club here in Toronto to do a presentation on promoting your photography on social media. I’ll be presenting to them on Tuesday and I’m really looking forward to it. I did presentation on iPhoneography for this club last year and they’re a great group of passionate photographers.
I’ve also spent the last couple of years working on some personal projects and building a body of work. I’m going to connect with some galleries and curators in the hopes of breaking into that market. I’ll let you know how that goes.
I was in NYC the first week of January with my family. For the first time in all these years of travelling to New York I finally caught a snow storm. And what a storm, or a cyclone bomb as they were calling it. The city was still and beautiful. What a wonderful way to experience Manhattan. It was pretty rough walking around outside because of the wind but we certainly weren’t going to stay in the hotel room and unfortunately my husband and boys had no desire to be excess time outside just so that I could shoot to the storm. We came to an excellent comprise. We headed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, they headed inside and I went to spend sometime walking around Central Park. It was tough keeping the camera dry ( I know, poor planning on my part as I didn’t have a cover with me) but it was so beautiful being there. I tried to find places to take cover and wipe of my camera. I ducked under this little bridge and to my surprise found the most beautiful little scene to photograph.

Zurich at Night
The view of Zurich from our hotel was just as spectacular at night as it was during the day (only just a bit trickier to capture).

Sometimes you just get lucky. We checked into our hotel, the Marriott Hotel Zurich, and we entered our room we were met with this view.

A Hard Drive Crash, A Day in the Country & An Aspiring Photographer
First I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day, President’s Day and Family Day (if you’re in certain parts of Canada). You may have noticed that I’ve been a bit absent this week. I have a good explanation…my hard-drive crashed 😦
No need to panic though because everything is backed-up on a raid drive and then I have a 3rd back up of all my images. The problem is I’ve been without my Mac for almost a week. See the Mac’s internal hard-drive is less than 3 years old. I had replaced it back then because I needed a larger one. Well it was still under warranty (that’s good) but it will take 7 – 10 days to send it back to the manufacturer and get it back (that’s bad). It should be coming home this week.
My son, Sam is home this week from University for reading week and it’s really nice to have a full house. Since today was family day we took a drive up to Port Carling, Muskoka. Sam has started showing some interest in photography so we did some shooting together today. Unfortunately I can’t process my images until I get my computer back but here’s a shot I took of Sam with my iPhone 6 and processed with Snapseed.
The Bridge Path at Ein Afek
Nature reserves are abundant in Israel and on any given day are explored by tourists and locals alike. The nature reserve at Ein Afek just north of Haifa is no exception.
On the northern slope of Ein Afek lies a two-story building from the crusader period (history abounds everywhere in Israel) and from there you can hike through paths surrounded by dense foliage and riverbank flora. The path leads to a bridge path that snakes its way over the lake.
