Up, Down & Signing Off

I’m getting ready to head out for a couple of weeks. I’ll be travelling to Israel and hope to come back with lots of images to share with all of you.  Look at my new travel companion….

Canon, 5D Mark 3, DSLRYup that’s the Canon 5D Mark 3. I just bought it last week and I’m very excited to give it a run for its money while I’m away. I’ll do a full review when I return.

I’m not going to blog while away but I will post regular updates to my Edith Levy Photography Facebook page and my Instagram feed.

If you’re not already following me on those sites and you’d like too, please click on the corresponding images below.

If you’re wondering what the “Up & Down” is in the title of this post it refers to the image below. I will leave you with another shot from the New York Subway system.

After the Rain

There’s something about walking through Central Park after a rain storm that’s both calming and mysterious.

Saturday Skate in Central Park

Walking through Central Park on a mild January day my husband and I stopped to watch the ice skating. I knew standing there that I wanted to create an image that I could turn into a digital painting. The skaters in their colourful jackets, the buildings in the background…it was in front of me but the image I wanted to create was in my head.

Old Jaffa in Black & White

I’m very excited as I’m heading back to Israel in a couple of weeks. While planning travel always gets my adrenal going, this is very different as my son is there and it’s been almost 6 months since I’ve seen him. I’ve got lots of hugs ready to burst out of me.

I’ve posted images of Old Jaffa in Tel Aviv before on this site but this time I decided to process a series of images in black and white.

While the vibrant colours of the stones in the old city are very appealing I found that the monochrome really draws the viewers attention to the striking lines and tones in the images.

You can see more images from Israel and Old Jaffa in my gallery here.

As you can see I now have my computer back, new hard drive installed and back in business!

NYC Subway Tableau

The New York subway series continues! This is probably one of my favourite shots…so far.  This is one of those images where the moon and the stars and the sun aligned.

Just as I pressed the shutter, the man on the platform decided to give me a little wave. I waved back just as my train arrived.
