Eat Lotsa Lobster

In my last post I posted an image of Stearns Wharf at sunset. I think I mentioned that I was standing behind a restaurant near the end of the pier to take that picture. I thought it only appropriate to show you the restaurant in question, The Santa Barbara Shellfish Company. This is a HDR (3 bracketed images) processed in Photomatix. I decided not to “de-ghost” the flag as I wanted it to be fluttering in the wind.

Have a great weekend everyone.

  2. I like that you left the flag fluttering! I’m so on the fence about HDR. I love your versions of it, but I don’t feel like it’s a good fit for me, so I hesitate to even try. But then I look at your images, and especially your diner images, and I think…maybe. Anyway – wanna ship me some of that lobster??

    • Thanks Heather. I’d love to ship you some lobster if I could get my hands in some. You know I used to do HDR a lot more then I am. For certain images I love it. When I want a bit more of a whimsical loom it’s perfect but I’ve learned over time that creating high dynamo range images in certain situations is perfect. For landscapes for instance when the lighting isn’t ideal and I want to bring out details in the shadows it’s perfect. I’ve taught myself not to over do it so that the image comes out looking natural.

The leading line from the planks in the pier together with the brighter spot from the sun by the restaurant door perfectly draw the eye to the welcoming open door. Nice one, Edith.
